Janina and Malte from Stuttgart discussing their sofa combination

“We really had to put our creative minds together when we bought our sofa.”

Buying something new on the go? That’s not Janina and Malte’s style. The pair have renovated and converted a house in Stuttgart to make it fit for their young family. Ecological and sustainability aspects were just as important to them as style and functionality. Their old seating furniture looked rather out-of-place in the new and lavish living room – and really quite run-down too, if the truth be told. It had served its purpose. “When we bought our sofa, we applied the same approach we did when we built our house. We did a great deal of in-depth research online. That’s when we came across the modular sofa system from Cubit and instantly fell in love,” remembers Malte.

Sustainable even during the purchase process: the sofa from Cubit

It wasn’t just the sofa system’s versatility that won the couple over, but also the fact that they have the option of converting or expanding it. This makes every single element valuable – even when creating a new combination. Janina and Malte took their time while designing their new seating furniture on the computer. Should the sofa be green? Or should it be red? Even their kids got involved too. In a surprising show of decisiveness, the siblings chose blue and gray for their very own sofas. Because it became very clear pretty early on that everyone was getting their own special seat. They add a comfy touch to the kids’ rooms. And when the family have guests over, all the seating modules can be joined together with ease.

Sit – the way you want to

Cubit  wasted no time in swiftly shipping the elements to Stuttgart. But then, that shouldn’t really come as a surprise, since the producers are based in Germany. East Westphalia, to be precise. Janina and Malte used the connection element to join together the seat and back surfaces made of high-quality foam material, then simply stretched the cover across. Everything fit together perfectly and created a sofa with striking lines. I’ve had the covers cleaned a few times in the meantime. I’m pleased to say that it certainly hasn’t lost its shape. The colors, meanwhile, are as brilliant as they were on day one. If we ever want to change the ambience in our living room, all we have to do is choose a different fabric structure and keep the basic elements,” affirms Janina, discussing their plans for the future.
