SNEAK PREVIEW IN KORTRIJK AND COLOGNE: CUBIT EXHIBITS ITS NEW MODULAR PRODUCT AT AUTUMN TRADE FAIRS
Cubit is passionate about individuality and modularity is the key: Every piece is unique and can be changed at any time. The furniture label from Düsseldorf is showcasing a new, soon to be available, product at Biennale Interieur (18-22/10/2018, Kortrijk) and Orgatec (23-27/10/2018, Cologne): the modular Cubit Lamp.
Jeannette Bastisch and Ariane Ernst have designed a modular lampsystem for the German furniture label with various basic geometric shapes which can be repeatedly rearranged. Large or small, rich in contrast or subtle, natural or bold – the lamp‘s various shapes and colours can be used to set a specific design-statement. Possibilities are endless: with Cubit‘s exclusive 3d-configurator designlovers can combine five shapes and six colours from high-quality beech and esh wood with different types of finish (high-gloss, matt or varnished) and add straight or conical lampshades, each with seven colour-variations. Just by rearranging its elements, Cubit‘s modular lamp stays unique at any time.
Unique showpieces for any style and any room
Since day one, Cubit’s modular range has been offering furniture lovers a template for personalised living that is both timeless and extraordinary. It doesn’t matter if it’s a sofa, shelving system, sideboard or a lamp - with Cubit, the customer becomes the designer as all the furniture consists of a multitude of modules in different colours and shapes which can be combined to suit your needs. In this way individual, customizable showpieces are created for any style and any room.

Current color trends: how to make them look best in your home
Colors improve your mood and liven up your home. Good thing bright and pastel shades alike are right on trend for 2017 – including fresh green, rich yellow, fiery red and soft pink. With modular furniture, these colors can be used in a totally customized way – as a fresh splatter of color or monochrome attention-grabber. Cubit’s expert designers will explain what effect the colors that are currently on trend have and give you tips on how to best use them.
Radiant yellow brings light and vitality into the home. For example, a sunny shade looks particularly nice as paint splatters on gray or white. But yellow can also create strikingly lovely living environments when combined with vibrant colors like blue. Tip: If you add color accents to other home accessories, you can create harmonious notes.
Fiery orange or red: Orange and red are colors that send a signal. They surprise the eye and rouse interest. When used correctly, they can convey warmth and coziness at the same time. They look great with solid colors, gray, white or wood. But they can even work well with other shades of red or orange. Tip: Small pieces of furniture like sideboards or individual armchairs make a strong impression in red or orange.
Soft rose or vivid pink: Rosy shades aren’t “just” for girls. Modern shapes with straight lines remove the “childish” aspect from the color, giving it more style as well. Soft or striking, as a single accent or as part of a mixture: Pink can look great in just about any space! Tip: Colorful furniture looks best when set against a neutral wall.
Green is the color of the year, and a panoply of green shades are appearing in home furnishings, too. The natural color radiates relaxation and harmony, whether as a piece of furniture, plant or wall color. Green has a particularly fresh effect when used in combination with white, but it also looks great with wooden furnishings, with the color gray or in contrast to other bright colors. Tip: A multicolored shelf is an eye-catcher in its own right, so its contents should be more subdued in color.
Airy blue: At the moment, blue is also showing off everything it can do, from soft sky blue to petrol. Depending on the shade, it can be airy and vivacious or have a calming effect. Blue pairs well with white or gray, but the color can also look great in combination with others. Tip: In small rooms, muted colors and/or individual accents look better. Large rooms with high ceilings, on the other hand, can handle more color.
Cubit’s modular shelving and sofa systems are available in different sizes, shapes and colors – for customized and flexible sofas, shelves and sideboards to suit every room. Simply design them online, order and assemble – no tools necessary.

Furniture production moves abroad: upholstery “Made in Germany” - a small but select group
Many German companies are moving production abroad. This includes the furniture sector. Only about 1,000 German manufacturers produce furniture that is entitled to sport the “Made in Germany” quality label. This includes, for example, the modular sofa system from Cubit®, which is manufactured in East Westphalia - home of furniture craftsmanship.
“Production in upholstery and housing is moving abroad,” is the latest word from the German Upholstery Industry Association. Current figures show that the production of upholstered furniture abroad is continuing unchanged, while production here is losing ground. It is for this reason that the quality label “Made in Germany” continues to be a trend. And rightly so; it stands for traditional craftsmanship, high-quality materials and short distances.
Good quality and processing are important for modular furniture
This is also why the modular sofa by Cubit® is completely manufactured in Germany. More precisely, it is manufactured at HV Näh- und Polstertechnik GmbH in Delbrück, East Westphalia - a region with a long furniture tradition. Nearly 20 percent of all German furniture is produced in East Westphalia. “From the beginning, it was clear to us that the Cubit® sofa had to be manufactured in Germany. For a modular system, good quality and premium processing is important. It must be able to withstand the stresses of conversions and extensions. In addition, short coordination and transport routes were important to us,” says Cubit® founder Thomas Reichel.
Real craftsmanship and attention to detail
Thus, a great deal of attention to detail and concentrated expertise is brought to bear on the flexible sofa system. Production is a challenge, because the Cubit® sofa series is extremely large. Five basic modules offer a variety of design possibilities with many different shapes and sizes. In addition, there is the wide selection of high-quality fabrics in different textures and colors. These are custom sewn every time a sofa cover is ordered. High-quality and individual armchairs, chaise lounges, and sofas are created for every room and every taste, all “Made in Germany.”

The ideal shelf for your home: the new 3D graphic in the Cubit® configurator helps you with the planning
Modular furniture is versatile and flexible. With many different modules, you can design your own perfect piece of furniture. But designing is not easy for everyone. Which is why Cubit® now offers the shelf configurator with a new 3D view. It shows customers what the design will look like in their own rooms.
How large should the shelf be? How well are the colors in the room shown to their advantage? And which design looks best? When planning a Cubit® shelf, there are many important decisions to make. The options for modular shelves are nearly unlimited. The new 3D graphic by Cubit® now helps to sort out the most important questions before the purchase. By using it, customers can get a first impression of the shelf in the room and at the same time experiment with the many different options.
Simple function with great effect
The realistic 3D view can be generated with just a few clicks using the online configurator by Cubit®. Just log in, upload a picture of your own room, place the designed shelf in the room, and you’re done! Creating the high-resolution, three-dimensional graphic of the shelf only takes a few minutes. This is made possible by the reliable infrastructure provided by 3D and server experts. The combination of photo and graphic shows approximately what the shelf design will look like in the intended location. This way, Cubit® customers can get a feeling for the impression their favorite shelves will make in their own home.
Creative experiments made easy
The virtual planning aid is perfectly suited to experimenting. For example, users can replace the background image in real time in order to test which wall the shelf looks best on. And Cubit® customers can also discover and try out the various shapes and forms of the modular shelf with the new function. As a result, anyone can easily become a designer - while being certain that the desired result is a perfect fit for their home.
The modular shelving system by Cubit® is available in 34 modules and eight depths with a wide assortment of colors and wood finishes. For individual, flexible shelves or sideboards.

How to easily customize individual pieces of furniture:
5 tips for the perfect sofa
Large or small? Colorful or simple? Modular furniture is as diverse as life itself. And at the same time as individual as your own needs. It adapts to any interior design and can accompany its owner for a lifetime - in the original or in a new form. And with modular furniture, anyone can become a furniture designer. But how do you design your perfect sofa? The professional designers at Cubit® have five tips on how best to do this.
Form follows function: What is the purpose of my sofa? That is the first question one should ask when designing a sofa. Why? Because the answer determines the ideal size of the sofa. For example, a depth of 80 centimeters is sufficient for a guest sofa that will be used for sitting most of the time. However, a sofa on which you would like to stretch out should be at least 100 centimeters deep.
Small room, small sofa - large room, large sofa: The effect of a sofa always depends on the size of the room. Armchairs or small sofas with a low backrest are advantageous in small, narrow rooms or under sloped ceilings. Large spaces, however, are suitable for large, spacious sofas.
Using colors in the room: When deciding on a color, one should pay attention to other colors in the room and use them whenever possible. In principle, small sofas or single armchairs look great in bright colors. Large sofas, on the other hand, should be kept as simple as possible. People who love color, can add accents with colored cushions or stools.
The darker the color, the more susceptible: It is hard to believe, but it's true: a black sofa is more susceptible to stains than a white one. That’s because the darker the fabric, the more clearly one can see stains, hair and lint. A safer bet is to choose a mottled material. This is helpful because these fabrics change their color depending on which side they are viewed from, and stains can hardly be seen.
Custom means appropriate: For the perfect sofa, personal parameters such as body size or age also play a role. Generally, people with a larger build and those who are older can sit more comfortably when the seat is higher. But keep in mind that a higher seat also means that the whole sofa is higher and therefore larger.
Cubit‘s modular sofa system is available in five basic types, with more than 300 sizes and almost 100 different fabrics - for individual, flexible armchairs and sofas that fit every room. People can design their favorite piece online, order it and set it up without tools.

Cubit® at the Maison & Objet in Paris: modular furniture system for stylish showpieces
Once again Cubit® is presenting its modular furniture system at the Maison & Objet in Paris. New this year are the attractive, versatile sideboards, as well as seven soft pastel tones for the Cubit® shelving system. The Maison & Objet takes place September 2 to 6, 2016, in Paris.
Timeless, modern, and colorful: the Cubit® modular system offers furniture enthusiasts a stylish yet unusual basis for individual living. Whether sofas or shelving systems, the understated furniture consists of a variety of elements in various colors and shapes, which can all be combined without the need for tools. This allows customers to quickly create simple but unusual pieces that are the perfect match for any space.
The Cubit® sideboard – an absolute all-rounder
From mini to maxi, as a side table or cocktail cabinet, brightly colored or an unobtrusive white. Cubit® sideboards are practical, versatile, and of course individual. The new element is a base made of oak, with straight or curved legs. You can place all of the shelving modules on it. The result: custom sideboards to hold anything. With an interesting design, this all-rounder quickly becomes an unusual eye-catcher.
Seven new, gentle pastel shades
Three shades of green, two shades of blue, and two shades of pink give Cubit® customers even more freedom to design their own shelving. The new, gentle colors combine perfectly with each other, as well as with the other well-known colors. They give the shelves a special airiness and go well with the shelving modules with a wood finish. Individual, stylish interior design: seven new pastel shades for the cubit® shelf
Cubit® shelf modules now also available in pastel shades – perfect for summer. Seven great new soft shades in the Cubit® modular shelf world’s bright color palette. The three shades of green, two shades of blue, and two shades of pink give Cubit® customers even more design freedom, as they are perfect for combining – either with each other or with other favorite colors. Simply plan online, order, and assemble, without the need for any tools! You can design the shelving you want that’s both eye-catching and practical for keeping your things tidy.
All modules in all colors
Whether our handy CD module or spacious module for large format books: All elements of the shelving system are now also available in the new colors. “The pastel color modules go particularly well with our shelf modules with wood surfaces. The new colors also look fantastic when combined with our stands. They lend the wood tones a real lightness,” says Thomas Reichel. The founder of Cubit® and his design team implement only design elements that work well with the overall concept. That’s why the soft colors naturally also look great with Cubit® sofa fabric lines – for the perfect, individual interior design.
The modular living world from Cubit® grows with caution and with fun: four new elements for the shelving system
The idea of modular living is already good in itself. Cubit® wants to build on this year on year. That is why four more elements for the shelving system are being released in Autumn 2015: The stand for the sideboard, base for improved placement options, the Hifi module and the On top module. All of them have a practical function and at the same time, generate creative impulses.
The first addition that will catch the eye of Cubit® fans is the stand for sideboards. Made of oak, it is available with both straight and slightly sloping legs. This can be used to position any combination of shelf modules. This gives rise to sideboards, entertainment furniture, side tables, games stations... it is possible to combine
the stands with shelf modules without tools – as you have come to expect from Cubit® – using the connector system. The shelves are thus granted a real lightness; this makes them stand out visually and sensorially from modules that are fixed, ‘floating’ on the wall. Small furniture consisting of a stand plus shelf modules can be repositioned in the room according to your needs.
The new bases, designed for use with shelves, are literally ‘uplifting’. They work by leveling out uneven ground; they also provide room to maneuver if the shelf is positioned in front of a skirting board. The bases are available in all Cubit® colors and veneers and add a classic touch to the shelf.
Sideboard module and base are as practical as they are innovative
The new ‘Hifi’ and ‘On top’ modules demonstrate how everything works together and exponentiates exactly with Cubit®. The Hifi module has a large rear-opening for cables. The front is closed with a door opening downwards. This opens by means of a tip-on mechanism, providing space for receivers.
The On top module is like a chest with the top open and has the traditional slits being able to be connected as usual. It works just like a crate and is perfect for hoarders. Socks, games, drinks and records all find a good home here. You can browse through everything easily, and nothing gets lost. The On top module can crown low-slung shelves and works equally well as a side table on the new stand. Also here: The new additions come in all colors and veneers – order now.
Cubit® responds to customer requests... and some are awoken
Cubit® customers ask for base and Hifi modules again and again. In answer to the question why these practical elements are only appearing now: Cubit® works in manufacturing quality. Each new product is developed and produced with care and attention. One thing that Cubit® pays real attention to in our fast-paced lives and that is honored by customers.
Mymito GmbH is launching its sofa and updating its website
The Cubit brand’s modular world of furnishings is consistently growing thanks to direct online sales and production in Germany.
This winter, Cubit® – the label for modular furniture – is being expanded to include the innovative Cubit sofa. The Cubit shelf is set to be joined by a brand new sofa equipped with similar advantages: a functional connector system and simple esthetics.
It would appear that there are virtually no limits to the design possibilities. Customers can combine a multitude of elements for seating cushions, armrests and backrests to create their very own, personal sofa – even for unusual furnishing situations. And to do this, they can use Cubit’s online configurator.
Each module can be used on a stand-alone basis as an armchair or arranged with other elements to create a sofa and even a complete seating landscape. And the design possibilities are diverse. Indeed, the Cubit sofa is always the epitome of style. A puristic design and clear lines give free rein to your individual creativity and create a feeling of stylistic sovereignty.
Function meets esthetics
The clever connector system is invisible at first glance; the elements are assembled without the need for any tools whatsoever. Molded L-shaped bent wood connects the elements, creating a sturdy finished product. Removable custom-fit covers which wrap themselves around the seating modules are also available. They are attached using hook-and-loop fasteners and hidden zippers. It’s an easy process that doesn’t require any special skills.
Fabrics convey your personal style
The surface of the sofa impresses in many ways. First of all, the cover forms a stylish whole with the main body of the sofa and influences its character. The feel comes later. Five high-quality fabric collections, including Jab Anstoetz, De Ploeg and Rohi, were chosen for the Cubit sofa. They range from affluent and elegant, over innovative and lively, to casual and youthful.
Cushions: more than just decoration
The cushions are the smallest modular parts of the Cubit sofa. They always match the formats of the seating elements – from classic to extravagant. A brand-new product is the double cushion. The seam enables the cushion to be folded double, thereby simply increasing its height and changing its function.
Sustainable production in Germany
Sustainability is the guiding idea behind the modular furniture from Cubit®. It adapts to all furnishing situations, showcases a timeless design and is made of high-quality and permanently stable materials. Most of the sofa components are supplied by manufacturers from East Westphalia, a region with a long tradition of furniture production. Fabrics and foams are Ökotex-certified and the transportation routes are short.
Minou Farkhondeh (interior designer) and Thomas Reichel (businessman) founded Düsseldorf-based Mymito GmbH in 2006. The company develops, manufactures and sells the Cubit® brand online in Europe. These are modular furniture systems with high-quality materials, meticulous production and puristic design. Since 2012, Olaf Schroeder, an industrial designer from Frankfurt, is an associate of the company.
Doors: new formats and fine woods enrich the Cubit range
Cubit is open for closed units and is delighted to present three more door modules for its shelving system. The special thing about them is that they are all square, small and can be excellently integrated according to the design scheme.
In launching these products, we’re responding to requests from our customers. After all, the door module is becoming increasingly popular. Its elegant tip-on technology means that it’s more than just practical – it has an exciting visual impact, too. Arranged as a closed surface, what started out as a shelf is then turned into a dresser or even a cabinet.
Wood veneers have a smart look about them
Cubit has been raising the stakes with its surfaces, too. We started off in 2012 with the walnut veneer. The dark wooden hue is still very much a smart complement to all color combinations.
And now, we’ve added amber oak – a fresh, light shade. With a slight hint of orange, amber oak goes well with canary yellow and yellowish-green. Or if you’re going for more of a contrasting look, it can be used together with ice blue and dark turquoise.
In contrast, volcano oak has a warm and intense effect. The dark brown shade, somewhat reminiscent of chocolate, simply exudes sovereignty. It’s a strong partner for all the colors used in the Cubit palette.
Cubit - in 15 new colours and natural walnut veneer!
