Marvin from Strasbourg talking about his TV shelf
“My viewing habits change… and so does my TV shelf.”
Are you one of those people who’s got a TV, a games console and a laptop? Slowly but surely, the different devices we use for entertainment and information purposes are merging into one. The traditional TV shelf has now turned into a media center. But what exactly should a piece of furniture like this do? Marvin, a true lover of good entertainment, showed the Cubit team around his apartment. “I was looking for a modular system capable of more than just housing my LCD monitor,” explains Martin. While the student likes to relax with a good movie, he’s also keen to keep up-to-date at all times. It’s pretty obvious that his tablet has a permanent spot on the TV unit next to his TV screen.
The TV unit is today’s media center
The various sizes of the individual modules make it very easy to combine them and thus create a TV shelf. Marvin found Cubit modules with doors to house his hi-fi stereo system and his games console. These protect his equipment from dust, while the closed front adds an air of exclusivity to his TV unit. Meanwhile, modules with drawers hold cables, plugs, remote controls and instruction manuals. In other words, everything that’s constantly going missing in other households is always close at hand here. The TV rack harmonizes a dissimilar collection of different devices.
Moving with the TV shelf is almost as easy as changing channels
The fact that the product can be assembled without the need to use tools makes moving or redesign processes pleasantly easy, since all of the elements can be combined with one other. The connector board connects absolutely everything. As an alternative, clamps hang the modules up on the wall – where they almost appear to float freely. Marvin even came across a couple of CDs and DVDs while he was tidying up. Cubit has the right modules for this type of media too – and they fit right in with the TV unit from a visual standpoint. Since we last saw him, Marvin has found someone special. He’s dating Lena, an avid reader. At least furniture’s not going to be an issue if the pair end up moving in together. The Cubit book shelf can be perfectly combined with the TV unit.
