Arnauld from Antwerp discussing his shelf for large sizes

“This is architecture for the home.”

Arnauld has the big picture in mind. The architectural photographer from Antwerp usually has to take a step back and find the perfect location to make his pictures look thevery best they can. His studio is designed to be just as spacious. A huge Cubit  shelf with modules for large sizes dominates his loft. “I don’t just create illustrated books, I love them. Browsing, examining and understanding helps me to get inspired,” the creative individual explains during our visit to the Belgian seaport.

Large sizes can be stored with ease

Arnauld’s search for a suitable shelving system to store his considerable collection took a bit longer. Many of the products on offer just weren’t sturdy enough – the workmanship just didn’t meet his exacting standards. After all, what else could a perfectionist want other than perfection? Other options appeared crude. But the modular shelving system from Cubit  made a completely different impression. It combines – in the truest sense of the word – understated design with a high load-bearing capacity. In the end, it was the clever connection system and the perfect paint job on every single module that won Arnauld over. “It’s fun handling the individual elements and rearranging them. All you see is a colored surface with a gentle matt finish. It’s completely flawless.”

Large sizes, large surfaces, lots of fun with colors

The specialist in black-and-white photography chose bold colors for his personal environment. Pink meets red, while blue plays with green, creating a colorful sculpture that’s constantly changing. But Arnauld isn’t just adding to his collection of large books; his photograph collection is growing too. The photographer carefully stores many of his prints in the horizontally arranged modules. It goes without saying that, by now, Arnauld has switched to digital photography. He archives his photo CDs in the appropriate Cubit  modules. This level of harmony provides a practical framework for his creativity.
